Halo 3 served in three flavours
You need to own Halo 3, and you know why. But since this doesn’t leave you with much choice in the matter we thought we’d better introduce some options ourselves. So there won’t be just one edition of Halo 3 hitting store shelves in… err, later this year, there’s going to be three: Legendary, Limited, and Standard.
The extras you get with the Legendary Edition are so incredible it’s almost stupid, starting with the whole thing packaged in a Spartan helmet case. You’ll also get an exclusive collection of Halo 3 storyboard art penned by Lee Wilson.
Legendary Edition also ships with two bonus disks of additional content – Disc One has behind-the-scenes footage and unseen videos that include “Making of ‘Halo 3’” recorded in high-definition. Other clips examine aspects of the game in development from concept stage, all in HD. Legendary Edition also comes with an audio-visual calibration tool to help owners of high-def displays and kick-ass sound systems get the best from their home cinema following guidelines set by the Halo 3 team.
The second bonus disk is exclusive to Legendary Edition and is a collection of re-mastered cinematic material from “Halo: Combat Evolved” and “Halo 2”. You’ll love this because a) it looks awesome and b) Bungie added commentaries explaining their ideas. Disc Two also has a short film describing A Day in the Life of Bungie, plus two Machima movies “Red vs. Blue” and “This Spartan Life”
Halo 3 Limited Edition comes in a metal collector’s case containing the game, and Disc One from the Legendary Edition. There’s also a Halo fiction and art book, detailing the various species and factions of the Halo universe. Finally, the Standard Edition delivers nothing more than the biggest event in the history of Xbox!
