From 17 April the Halo community on LIVE is about to go crazy with the arrival of two new multiplayer maps. Not just any maps, but two of the most popular from Master Chief’s historic debut in “Halo: Combat Evolved” recreated especially for Halo 2.
Improved versions of the “Hang ’Em High” and “Derelict” maps will be available as premium downloadable content to anyone playing Halo 2 using Xbox 360 or original Xbox. For this reason the maps will be obtained using the in-game content downloader. They’re priced $4USD (€3 approx), and you’ll need a credit card to make the purchase. Now that’s not a lot of hassle for a heck of a lot of gameplay.
“Hang ‘Em High” has been redesigned to be so much better than you remember it from original Halo. Bungie Studios and Certain Affinity Inc. have loaded the area with secrets and new features to such an extent that it has earned a new name: “Tombstone”. Fans have been crying out for this particular remake since the arrival of Halo 2. Well, the wait is over. See you in there.
“Derelict” from Halo has been re-imagined as “Desolation”. This map is completely symmetrical, originally designed for undiluted Deathmatch sessions. The imposing industrial character looks gloomier than ever, and Bungie alongside Certain Affinity has been fine-tuning Desolation for faster-paced gameplay. When was the last time you heard your heart beating in your ears? Just asking.
You may recall that the new maps were originally announced as Xbox 360 exclusives. Well Bungie felt it was important that every fan playing Halo 2 should benefit. So here we all are, celebrating. See you on LIVE.
This information is from xbox.com, so are you intrested about getting these new maps or do you think halo 2 is too old now.
